Straight from the kitchen of one of Aden’s most experienced bakhoor and traditional attar maker, this age-old hair spice and fragrance oil is now ready to offer in-store. My aunt, who has been the creator of bakhoors such as Yemeni Bridal, Ruh-alQudus and Yemeni Resala, has once again created this al-akhdriane for us. Considered an aphrodisiac oil amongst Yemeni women, this hair fragrance is truly special. This olfactory aphrodisiac is a brew (makhmaria) of the finest oudha, saffron, clove, cardamom, cherry seeds (mahlab), amber, agarwood oil, black pepper, sandalwood, vetiver, onycha and a medley of florals and essential oils. The ingredients are pounded with hand and then smoked with special bakhour and mixed with oils to form an aromatic creamy liquid like the zabaad.

The mixture of al-akhdariane makmaria is then stored away in a glass jar to mature in a dark place away from sunlight. This batch has been maturing for a few months. In keeping with Islamic traditions, this hair fragrance cream contains no alcohol.

For best results use on damp hair and then blow dry it. This ensures the hair especially has a beautiful floral and oud fragrance emanating from it.
